Sullivan's Gravesite

Sullivan Ballou's third and final gravesite is at the beautiful Swan Point Cemetary in Providence, Rhode Island. Many of his Civil War colleagues - Governor William Sprague, General Ambrose Burnside, Elisha Hunt Rhodes of the 2nd, and Colonel John Slocum are buried here as well.

Sharing the Sullivan Ballou family plot, marked by the tall obelisk, are Sullivan, Sarah, her mother Catherine, and the Ballou's youngest son, William. Each individual grave is marked with a small square stone with the individual's name - except for William's - which leaves another mystery to be solved. Click on the link to see the grave site.
